Gauchos Add the Swoosh

Starting this fall, Gaucho athletes will be decked out in full Nike regalia.

According to a UCSB Athletics press release, all 20 of our intercollegiate teams will be sporting the swoosh thanks to a new partnership with Nike. Standards have been set for the designs across the board, and Director of Athletics Mark Massari noted that the Gaucho mascot will feature prominently.

In addition to our teams donning new looks, UCSB Athletics will be selling the gear at ucsbgauchos.comand the bookstore will be stocking the designs throughout the year. For your first opportunity to snag some new Gaucho apparel, mark your calendars for Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. when the men’s soccer team will take on (and destroy) Westmont.

I know I’m already feeling confident about our athletic teams’ chances this year knowing they’ll be donning the symbol of the goddess of victory. How about the rest of you?
